How I automatically promote YouTube videos with Integromat

I spend real time making YouTube videos. I do not want a second job pasting the new URL into Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit. I built a small scenario that watches the channel and posts the video for me.

The same shape works on a blog. Anything that can fire a webhook can start it.

Zapier watches YouTube. Integromat had no YouTube module

Integromat — now Make.com — did not have a YouTube app. They were waiting on Google approval. It had been waiting a while.

So Zapier watches my channel by unique ID. A new upload returns the title, the URL, and the rest of the payload. Zapier POSTs that to an Integromat webhook. I paste the webhook URL into the Zap, send a test, and the scenario has sample data.

That hop is the whole trigger. Point Zapier at a blog RSS feed and the rest of the canvas stays the same.

Webhook in, tweet and LinkedIn post out

Once the webhook has a video, two modules fire.

One creates a tweet with the title and URL.

One creates a text post on LinkedIn: title, URL, and a line that says subscribe for more automation and marketing. That module took about two minutes.

I would add Instagram and Facebook. I am banned on both, so I left them out. Pinterest is not on Integromat. If you need it, put it on Zapier. My audience is not there, so I skip it.

Slack groups and Slack channels work as extra nodes. I would use that for a blog post. For YouTube I do not. YouTube cares about watch time. Spamming the URL across every group you can find is the wrong metric.

The live scenario posts to three places: Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit. About five minutes to build. Then it runs.

Reddit: ten minutes between subreddits or they block you

I used to push the same link into a lot of subreddits. The pattern still works.

One Reddit module posts to r/GrowthHacking with the video URL. Clone it. Change the next one to r/marketing. Put a Sleep of about ten minutes between them. Reddit will block you if you post too frequently. That sleep is the limit.

I am not going to fan this video out across a long list. I have used that list-plus-delay pattern to promote OnlyFans creators on Reddit. Same modules. Same ten-minute gap.

An error handler so one ban does not stop the run

A subreddit can block the post. I do not care about that one post. I do care that the scenario keeps running.

I add an error handler on the Reddit modules so a ban does not kill the rest of the chain. Then I name the scenario YouTube promotion and turn the Zap on.

If I had an email list I would add an email tool and send an announcement that a new video is up. I do not have a list for this channel, so that node stays off.

Or skip the canvas and drop it in Buffer

The other version is Buffer. Create a status update. Buffer pushes it to every account you have connected. One module instead of three.

I downloaded the Integromat scenario as a free template in the video. The part that still matters is the shape: Zapier for the YouTube watch, webhook into Make, posts plus a ten-minute Reddit sleep, and an error handler so a blocked subreddit does not stop the run.

Hey guys, today I thought I'd make a little video on a YouTube automation. Seeing as I've been putting a lot of time and effort into generating content on YouTube, I thought we can just build like a little automation that will automatically detect any new content that I post on YouTube and it will just go and share it on LinkedIn, Reddit and Twitter for example.

This is going to like depend on your requirements. Perhaps you want to add in Pinterest or like an email newsletter in there for example. It's not limited to YouTube either. You could also detect new content on your blog or pretty much anywhere else. We're using Reddit as we're using webhooks so it's going to be a very like flexible system that you can adjust your needs.

I'll turn this into a free template. You can just download the Integromat template below and you can upload it and use for any particular use case that you have. And so this is just a simple like tutorial giving you a boilerplate that you can then sort of build on top of.

So the first step of the automation is going to be to check whenever a new video is posted on my YouTube channel. We need to make sure that this automation triggers automatically. So because Integromat haven't actually got a YouTube extension, they're waiting for it to be approved by Google which has been going on for a while now, we're going to use Zapier. So this is going to be a little example of how we can actually send data from Zapier over to Integromat.

So we're just watching my YouTube channel. I've linked my channel already and given it my unique ID and then whenever a new video is posted it's going to return us all of the information and we're just going to send it in Integromat to receive the data whenever a new video is posted. But this could apply to anything. For example you could do this on a blog whenever you release a new blog post.

So let's just save that and we've got our webhook URL here so we can just paste that down the bottom. Let's add that in. Continue. So yeah we've had some data coming. So now this is really going to be quite quick to build.

I actually used to have a flow which would send, promote in a lot of different Reddits. Create a text post. Oh you can also do organizations now as well so that would be another place that we can share it. We could also do Instagram as well or Facebook in fact but I'm banned from both channels so I'll leave that out. But if I wasn't banned I would definitely add them in. And they don't offer Pinterest. Interesting.

So essentially all we're going to do is this is going to be posted for me. We can just do, why not, create a text post on LinkedIn, my LinkedIn account, title and URL type. Then why don't we just put in a link to YouTube in case anyone wants to check. Subscribe for more automation and marketing. Okay done. So that was literally done in about two minutes.

So whenever a new video is posted it will be received on a webhook here. It will create a tweet and it will also create a post. I am surprised that Pinterest isn't on Integromat though. Let's turn that Zap on.

So we could also look at doing like sharing in groups and Slack channels and so on but personally I'm not really gonna go down that route. For a blog post it would be really good but for YouTube they're really quite focused on video watch time so by like spamming this out. But we could for example just put in like a Reddit, why not, and we could actually put in a load of different Reddits and we could put in the URL here.

In fact let's put it in growth hacking, why not. That will automatically post in growth hacking. Ironically this video will also post in growth hacking. If you did want to, and I have done this before, you could make a list of all these subreddits that you want to post in and just put in like a delay of about 10 minutes between each one because Reddit will block you for posting too frequently. So we can put in that's the limit on the sleep timer and we can just clone that and then in like the next one we could add in post in subreddit marketing for example.

I'm personally not going to go down that but it's how I actually promote some of the OnlyFans girls is by promoting them on Reddit all the time. And so there we go that was really nice simple automation and it is automations like this I love. They take like five minutes to build. This will now run forever promoting my YouTube content on three different channels. I never have to think about it. Super easy automation.

We can also just put like an error handler here for example if we just want to, like maybe we will get blocked from this subreddit which we don't really mind about, just to make sure that it does run continuously. I'm just going to name this YouTube promotion.

You could again you could have like a blog post here instead of YouTube. We could also if we had an email list we could add in like an email marketing tool and schedule to send out a huge email announcement we've got a new video. Not a bad idea at all. Just personally I don't have an email list of my YouTube channel.

And you could of course add in any other social media channels that you use. Pinterest, so on. Pinterest I would do through Zapier if you are going to use it. My audience isn't particularly active on Pinterest so it's not such a big issue.

Another way to approach this would also be to schedule this as a post in Buffer. Create a status update and it will spread across all of your accounts that you have connected in Buffer.

Yeah I hope it was informative. I'll actually just download this and I'll put this as like a free template that you can just use if you want to share and promote your content. But now I will set that to run, one immediately. Yeah, thank you so much for watching. Any questions as always leave a comment below. I'm really enjoying the type of content I'm putting out at the moment but I'm also looking at putting out a few more like technical automation style videos, tutorials and so on. So if you have anything that you'd like to see, leave a comment. If it's interesting I'm happy to make a video of building it and make a little tutorial.
